PIONEER HENRY COUNTY RESIDENT WAS FATHER OF DR. H. W. SCHWARTZ OF THIS CITY.
One of the pioneer and best known resident of Henry county, Konrad H. Schwartz, 79 of Winfield, Iowa, father of Dr. Harry Schwartz of this city died Sunday at 2 a.m. at the residence, with burial in Winfield Cemetery. Dr. and Mrs. Schwartz will leave this morning to attend the funeral.

Born in Oberlauchen, Germany, July 28, 1850, Mr. Schwartz came to the United States and to Des Moines county with his parents. He had acquired an education in the public schools of Germany. In this city, he added to that education the stonemason's trade and was engaged in this profession for five years. At the conclusion of that time, he bought a large farm in Henry county where he had since resided. On March 12, 1885, he was married to Miss Carrie Hanson,daughter of pioneer Des Moines county residents. She preceded him in death January 1919. One child, one brother and a sister also preceded Mr. Schwartz in death. He was a member of the Presbyterian church of Winfield.

Surviving are two daughters, Miss Nellie Schwartz at home, and Mrs. Fred Mona of Mt. Ayre, Ia; three sons, Clarence and Charles of Winfield, and Dr. Harry Schwartz of Burlington; three brothers, Charles of West Burlington, August of Burlington and Andrew of Dodgeville, Ia; and four grandchildren.
