OBITUARY:

Leola Mae Kauffman Alliman, age 87, died on Friday, November 12, 1999 at Parkview Home in Wayland. The daughter of William and Susan Nofziger Kauffman, she was born May 22, 1912, one of seven children. On September 22, 1943, she married Peter Joseph Alliman II. Leola and Peter had two sons, Charles and Peter.

Leola was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pete, her sister, Marie Berkshire, and brothers Ralph and Max Kauffman.

She is survived by her two sons, daughters-in-law, Babs and Jill; four granddaughters, Barrie Katherine, Abigail Lee, Sarah Lee, and Laura Elizabeth, her two sisters, Mildred Meyer and Edith Hileman, and a brother, Harold Kauffman.

After working many years in the Knox County, Tennessee school system as a master baker Leola and Pete returned to Wayland in retirement. Her family was the center of her life and she loved and was loved by them dearly. She attended Cottonwood United Methodist Church and was a member in Inskip United Methodist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Funeral services were held Sunday, November 14, 1999 at 2:00 PM at the Cottonwood United Methodist Church with Rev. Carl Klein officiating. Casket bearers were Don Robertson, Jim Meyer, Steve Alliman, Ed Wagler, Joe Kauffman, and Charles and Peter Alliman. Janice Rich was organist and Karen Feddersen, soloist.

Memorial funds have been established to Cottonwood United Methodist Church and North Hill Cemetery. Beatty Funeral Home of Wayland was in charge of the arrangements.
