OBITUARY: Mt. Pleasant News August 13, 2001

Ronald G. Roth, 67, of Wayland, died unexpectedly Saturday, August 11,2001 at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant. The funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, August 15 at the Wayland Mennonite Church with the Rev. Steve Good officiating. Burial will be at 9:3 0 A.M. August 15 at North Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. Tuesday, August 14 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland with the family present from 6 to 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be given to Wayland Mennonite Church PA system, North Hill Cemetery, or Parkview Home of Wayland.

Mr. Roth was born May 19, 1934 on the family farm southeast of Wayland, the son of Milton D. and Rachel B. Gerig Roth. He graduated from Wayland High School in 1952. He married Jean Kauffman on April 16, 1961. He was a member of the Wayland Mennonite Church, Wayland Lions Club, president of the Waymar board and past deacon of the church. After high school he attended Electronic School in Chicago and enlisted in the Navy for two years in San Diego, California. He returned to Wayland and operated Ronnie's Radio and TV Repair and later joined in farming with his father. He then owned and operated Ron's Gifts and TV Center until 1972. He also managed C & J Fertilizer in Olds and worked at Liquid Grow in Washington. He enjoyed golfing, singing, and being very active with his church and family.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Christa Martin and her husband Reed of Marion, Dawn Gross and her husband Steve, of Overland Park, Kansas, and Terri and her husband G. Walker of Washington, a sister-in-law Evelyn Goff of Washington and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Rex Roth.
