Mt. Pleasant News:

James T. Bates, 50, Route 5, Mt. Pleasant, died Tuesday, September 7, 1982 at 10:00 A.M. at the Henry County Health Center.

He was born February 29, 1932 in Henry County, the son of Bernard K. and Helen Todd Bates. On July 5, 1955, at Augsburg, West Germany, he married Herta Bruetting.

He was a member of Finley Chapel United Methodist Church, Henry County Cattlemen's Association , and was a former 4-H leader. He had farmed east of Trenton.

Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. David (Mary Helen) Anderson, Oskaloosa, and Lynn Ann, at home; one son, Thomas Bernard at home; two grandchildren; his parents, Route 5, Mt. Pleasant; and a sister, Mrs. Earnest (Martha Ann) Bright, Mt. Pleasant. One son, Charles L. preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 10, at 10:30 A.M. at the Finley Chapel. The Rev. Richard Dunn will officiate with interment in the Finley Cemetery.

Friends may call as they desire after 7:30 P.M. Wednesday at the Beatty Funeral Home, Wayland. A memorial fund has been established.
