I am Charles David Owens and Kate Boustead’s great granddaughter.
William Thomas Owens and Elizabeth Jane Lewis married 1869 in Saline, Missouri
1870 Jan- Charles David Owens was born in Grand Pass Misouri.
1876 Elizabeth married William Nelson Colton in Missouri (no word of what happened to William Owens)
Sometime between 1876 and 1880 they moved to Harrison County Iowa.
1880 Census shows a Jennie Colton married to (William) Nelson Colton with children Charles Owen aged 10, and Freddie Colton (1 m).
Charles David Owens married Kate Boustead 1889 in Harrrison County IA and had 4 children. He died 1899 Woodbine, Harrison County IA and during her struggles as a single mom, Kate had farmed the kids out. One of the sons ran away and was taken in by the Erma Colton wife of Charles David Owens’ half brother Freddie Colton. (see 1880 census) The dates, ages, locations seem to match, but the names are not quite right.
I would love to find out if I’m tracking my ancestors correctly with this blended family of Owens/Colton.
The family seems to center around Harrison County. I’d love some pics or gravestones – anything documenting any of my family. If you come across anything for any of them I would appreciate it.
Charles David Owens 1869-1899; his father William Thomas Owens (abt 1840 to ??); his father (who we think) was Henry. The Bousteads are fairly well documented but I haven’t gotten in too deep on them yet. That is very cool about the reunion.Thanks for your help!!!!
