Obituary

Hans Olson was born in Sogn, Norway, Sept. 14, 1834. His mother died while he was an infant. Fortunately his grandparets, H. Instefjord were in a position to offer him a home and he made his home with them for some time. As a young man Mr. Olson married Ingeborg Tosteise. They cam to America in 1871 and settled on the Haugland farm at Lake Center in Hamilton county. Here they built their home. In common with the other early settlers they shared the hardships and joys peculiar to early pioneer life.

On May 5, 1893, his wife died. On the last day of April, 1894, he married Brita Hanson. Nineteen years ago Mr. and Mrs. Olson retired from the farm and moved into their new home in Stanhope, where he lived until death removed him in the early hours of July 8th.

Hans Olson was a staunch Lutheran by faith. He was one of the organizers of Lutheran church work in Clear Lake township and he remained faithful until the end.

At the time of his death Mr. Olson was 93 years, 9 months and 24 days old. He is survived by his wife and the following step children, H. G. Hanson, I. G. Hanson, G. G. Hanson, Belle Hanson and Ole Hanson, all of Stanhope. The funeral was held at the Lutheran church Tuesday, July 10th at 2 o'clock and burial was made at Lake Center.
