OBITUARY

Mrs. John Tweed

Mrs. John Tweed (nee Anna Johnson) was born at Nerstrand, near Stavanger, Norway, Feb. 25, 1847, and died at her homestead two miles north of Randall, Iowa, Dec. 21, 1927. She reached the ripe age of 80 years, 11 months.

In 1874, at the age of 27 years, she came from Norway to New Sharon, Mahaska county, Iowa, where she lived for 7 years. The 11th of March, 1882, she was united in marriage to John Tweed from Sveen, Norway. Shortly after this Mr. and Mrs. Tweed moved to Story county, Iowa, operating a farm four miles west of Story City. They worked land southwest and northwest of Randall until 21 years ago, when they bought a farm two mile north of Randall, where the family has lived since. Her husband died five years ago, Dec. 9, 1922.

Mrs. Tweed had the misfortune of breaking her hip nine years ago and since that time she has practically been an invalid. The last six weeks of her life she was bedfast.

During these many years of sickness her children have cared for her very tenderly, and especially is this true of Anna, who has stayed with her mother all the time.

Mrs. Tweed was a quiet and reserved woman, and kept things much to herself. The Tweed family has for a number of years been active members of the Lutheran church at Randall.

Mrs. Tweed was the mother of five children, who now mourn the loss of a dear mother. The children are: Hans, Cornelius, Mrs. Elizabeth Moe, Mrs. Carrie Uhl and Anna. The children all live near the Tweed homestead with the exception of Mrs. Uhl, who lives at Ames. She also leaves 12 grand children, and a brother, Christoffer Johnson in Norway.

Mrs. Tweed was clear in her mind until the very last and freely confessed her faith and trust in her Saviour, whom she expected soon to give her a place in the mansions above, which He went to prepare.
