Linda Lee Sigmund Knowles, 53, Hattiesburg, Miss., died of natural causes at Wesley Hospital in Hattiesburg, Miss. on May 21, 2002. The body was cremated. Memorial services will be held at the Stanhope Parish Church on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

Linda Sigmund Knowles, daughter of Logan and Mildred Sigmund, was born on August 30, 1948 in Boone. She lived near Luther as a child. She moved to Stanhope in 1953 and attended school there. She graduated from South Hamilton High School in 1966 and attended business school in Fort Dodge. She was employed by Boone County Hospital for more than 20 years doing office work. She married Duane Martin on May 15, 1971 in Boone. On June 5, 1994, she married Larry Knowles. They moved to Hattiesburg, Miss. in January, 1996.

Linda enjoyed doing sewing, knitting, handwork and computers. She was preceded in death by her father, Logan Sigmund in October, 2001, and her grandparents.

She is survived by her mother, Mildred Sigmund, Stanhope, her sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Robert Holmes of Central City, her brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Janet Sigmund of Stanhope; five nieces and nephews.
