Neil Easterday, age 48, of Jewell, died of a heart attack Thursday evening at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at the Federated United Church of Christ in Jewell, with Rev. Robert Williams to officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell. Friends may call after 3 p.m. on Monday at Becker Funeral home in Jewell, where the family will be present from 7 to 9 p.m.

Neil Gerald Easterday was born in Heron Lake, MN on Sept. 3, 1953 to Thomas Weslie and Emma Lucille (Bastman) Easterday. He was a 1971 graduate of Heron Lake High School in Heron Lake. In 1973, Neil married Monica Voit, also of Heron Lake, with whom he had three children. They resided in the Heron Lake area until their separation. In 1982 Neil married Sandy Godfredson of Algona, Iowa. They had two children and made their home in the Algona area until 1988, when they moved to Jewell, Iowa. He was the manager of the Concrete Inc. concrete plant in Jewell. Neil was a member of the Federated United Church of Christ in Jewell. He was an avid golfer, a member of the Jewell Golf & Country Club, and served on the Country Club board of directors.

Neil is survived by his wife Sandy Easterday, Jewell, two sons, Bill Easterday of Breese, IL., and Justin Easterday of Heron Lake, MN; three daughters, April Mortenson and her husband Michael of Jewell, Bobbi Jo Easterday and Brandi Easterday, both of Jewell; a brother, Tommy Easterday of Mount Pleasant, Iowa; and three sisters, Mybia Walters of Russell, MN, Irene McCoy of Milford, Iowa, and Della Tarrent of Minneapolis, MN. His parents and a son, Aaron Dean Easterday, preceded him in death.
