"As the Fool Dieth."
"West Union, May 3.—William Scott, aged 30 years, unmarried, died in a blacksmith shop near Clermont last night as the result of a drunken debauch. It was at first reported that Scott had been murdered, but a coroner’s jury ascertained that the deceased in company with four others obtained a quantity of alcohol last night and repaired to a blacksmith shop on the Turkey river to drink it. The five engaged in playing cards and drinking the alcohol and when time came for breaking up, Scott was fast asleep. His companions being unable to rouse him, left him to 'sleep it out.' As he did not return an investigation was made this morning and he was found dead.”

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born in 1867 and is buried in the West Union Cemetery.
