Mornin' Steve, If you think that 1930 is your George Herburger, you start following him down the census ladder. His parents I believe are Frank & Elizabeth. I found this family in 1920/10/00 and the 1895 state census, all in Dubuque. Don't want to take the stress & frustration of genealogical research away from you so I'll let you look for them yourself. A note however, Folks are not always enumerated as, or living where we anticipate them to be. And one index data may differ on another source. All depends on how the indexer interpreted the handwriting. An example of this is the 1900 census. On Ancestry Frank Herburger is indexed as Frank HOEBERGER. On Heritage Quest he's indexed as Frank NARBECGER. How the name is indexed means nothing. The family is still on the same census page.
