Sydney,
Thank you for your message. Philip and Ann LaBrune had three children in the 1850 census in Dubuque Co., I believe in Rickardsville, though it was listed as "District 7". George and Jean-Baptiste were farmers, according to the US census, but other records indicate they ran a saloon at some point. George's family seems to have moved to Jefferson, SD. Mary LaBrune Lamoges/Limoges was there in 1880. Others were there in 1900. Jean-Baptiste's family mostly stayed in Rickardsville, though daughter Anastasia , my ancestor, moved to St. Louis, MO. The third child was Nicholas and I have only the 1850 census record of him. There were two other children in the family in Ohio in 1840, but I don't know their names or what became of them.

Do you have any suggestion on how I might find out where in France the LaBrunes were from?

Mike
