Georgene Martha Butlett

February 22, 1938 - November 25, 2012

Georgene Martha “Lolly” Butlett, 74, of Alverno Apartments, 3525 Windsor Avenue passed away Sunday, Nov. 25 at home surrounded by her family.

A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, with Rev. Dwayne Thoman officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1640 Main St., where there will be a wake service at 7:30 p.m.

Lolly was born Feb. 22, 1938 in Dubuque, daughter of Bernard and Irene (Carpenter) Nelson. She married Joseph A. Butlett Sr. May 15, 1954, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Dubuque. He preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 2000.

She was employed at Luther Manor Care Center for 15 years.

She favored the New York Yankee and Pittsburg Steelers. She enjoyed going to stock car races when her husband raced. Lolly loved to fish and enjoyed watching TV, and doing puzzle books. She especially enjoyed time with her children and grandchildren.

She was a member of St. Mary’s parish.

Surviving are four daughters, Debra (Randall) Oberfoell, Irene (Robert) Ehlers, Tina (Gary) Smith, all of Dubuque, and Lisa (Keith) Williams, of Tallahassee, Florida; two sons, Randall (Jodi) Butlett, of Dubuque and Clinton (Rita) Butlett, of Eldridge, IA; 14 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; two sisters, Hilma Sargent, of Arizona and Elizabeth Nelson, of Linden, Wisc.; and one brother, Richard (Neva) Nelson, of Bothell, WA.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Joseph Jr. and Greg; a daughter-in-law, Kris Butlett; five sisters, Betty, Stephenson, Eileen Martin, Rosemary Rudolph, Vivian Streets and Sandra Pfab; and four brothers, Ben, Ronald, Robert and Willard Nelson.
