FROM FARLEY

A Growing Village-A Marriage
of a Minister-Presentation

Special Correspondence to the Dubuque Times
FARLEY-Nov. 29, 1870

Farley is growing a little in churches, dwelling houses, and last, but scarcely least sidewalks.

Water is a very scarce article here just now, and the citizens are all hoping it will rain soon.

The Methodist minister here, whose name is Burgess, last week went away, and when he returned he brought a bride. Last evening the Methodist and others of Farley and vicinity met at the home of Mr. D. C. S. Baldwin, for the purpose of giving the minister and his new wife a reception. The affair was gotten up in fine style. The tables groaned beneath the good things which the ladies prepared-and there are some excellent cooks here. After supper there came a presentation of a couple of handsome chairs to the minister and his wife, by the Rev. Simone Clark; in behalf of the people. All concerned seemed to enjoy the occasion finely.
