Newspaper clipping, unknown source

Snow - At his late residence, July 13, (1893), northeast of town, by injuries from the falling of a hay derrick, Madison M. Snow, aged 46 years, 8 months and 17 days.

Deceased was a native of Pennsylvania, where he spent the larger portion of his life. About a year ago, with his wife, son and daughter, Mr. Snow came to Spirit Lake, where his father, mother and sister reside. He came to Iowa principally on account of an invalid daughter, who has since fully recovered. The object of his coming being accomplished, he was expecting to return to his old home early in the autumn at Parkersburg, Pennsylvania. The terrible and sudden demise was a great shock to the community.

Mr. Snow years ago accepted the Christian religion, which has been his hope through these scores of years. He has been identified with the Presbyterian church for twenty years, though later he inclined with the Baptist Church.

The funeral was conducted by the pastor of the Methodist Church at the late residence of this deceased, on the 13th inst., in the presence of a large number of sympathizing friends. Deceased leaves a wife, two sons and a daughter to mourn the loss of an affectionate husband and father.
