Mr. Lester Gray, 85, of West Burlington, died at 10:53 a.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born January 17, 1929 in East Moline, Illinois, he was the son of Lester Ivan and Evelyn Lucille Gray.
Mr. Gray was a Navy veteran. He was an insurance salesman for Bankers Life and Casualty Company for 35 years, retiring in February of 1991. During that time he won many awards and trophies for being top salesman.
Mr. Gray loved old country western music and buying new Cadillacs and Lincolns.
Survivors include one son, Rick J. Gray of Muscatine; one daughter, Lynn A. McCrabb of Maquoketa; three grandchildren; two sisters, Joan M. Lopez of East Moline and Sheila McCormick of West Virginia; brother, Robert Gray of Austin, Texas; and companion, Eileen Peterson of West Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one sister, two brothers and two nieces.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. Sunday, January 11th, at Lunning Chapel. There will be a light luncheon at the Burlington Steamboat Senior Citizens Center following the visitation.
The graveside funeral service and interment for Mr. Gray will be 2 p.m. Monday, January 12th, at Hampton Cemetery, Hampton, Illinois.
A memorial has been established for Burlington Steamboat Senior Citizens Center.
