The Hawk Eye, July 7, 2010; Burlington, Des Moines County, Iowa:

Stephen H. Peterson, 60, of Las Vegas, died Sunday morning, June 27, 2010, at his home following an extended illness.

Born December 28, 1949, in Burlington, he was the son of Howard and Charlotte Peterson. He married Lila Toops.

Mr. Peterson had been a mechanical designer for Trane, the ammunition plant, General Electric and Controlled Power in Canton, Ohio. He enjoyed fishing, golf, travel and visiting with friends.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Micah Peterson of Burlington; three stepchildren, Lisa Holmes of Las Vegas, Dana Springer of Gallup, New Mexico, and Robert Springer of St. Francisville, Missouri; nine grandchildren; his mother of Burlington; one sister, Patty Kupniewski of Burlington; two brothers, Tom Peterson of Burlington and Tim Peterson of Holman, Wisconsin; nieces; nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, one sister and one brother.

Friends and family are welcome to share memories and celebrate Mr. Peterson's life at 2 p.m. August 22 at The Gymnastic Society building, 129 South Fourth Street, Burlington.
