Mrs. Sharon Lee Wells, 76, of Burlington died at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 24, 2014, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born October 1, 1938 in Council Bluffs, she was the daughter of Charley C. Sr. and Mildred L. (Larson) Kennedy. On March 10, 1957 she married Richard H. Wells at the former Westminster Presbyterian Church on Agency St.
Mrs. Wells was a 1956 graduate of Burlington High School. Her first love was being a homemaker. She also worked at National Research Bureau, Benner Tea Co., Sylvania Electronics, General Electric, Lamont Ltd. and Vista Bakery. She was currently a member of First Presbyterian Church and had been a Presbyterian member for the past 60 years.
Mrs. Wells enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading, cleaning, jigsaw puzzles, and baking cookies and character cakes. She also enjoyed going to auctions by Smith and tending to her rosebushes, lilac trees and lavender plants in her yard. She was an avid Burlington Bees Baseball and Southeastern Community College Blackhawk Basketball fan.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Richard H. Wells of Burlington; one daughter, Lisa Wells of Burlington; one son, Brian Wells of Burlington; 14 grandchildren; one sister, Carolyn Brown of Holdrege, Nebraska; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Scott Wells and brother, Charley R. Kennedy.
Friends may call from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tuesday, December 30th, and after 8 a.m. on Wednesday, December 31st, at Lunning Chapel
The funeral service for Mrs. Wells will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 31st, at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Deb Kinney officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the time of service. Casual dress is preferred.
Memorials have been established for Great River Hospice and First Presbyterian Church.
