Dorothy Ann Bergren, age 85 of Mediapolis, died Saturday July 12, 2014 at the Great River Hospice House. The daughter of George and Fannie (Delzell) Mehaffy, she was born December 25, 1928 at Mediapolis. On June 13, 1953 she married Marcus Bergren at Kahoka, Missouri; he died October 19, 2008. She was a graduate of the Mediapolis High School. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mediapolis, and in earlier years enjoyed bowling. She was a devoted Mother, caring for her three boys with muscular dystrophy.

Survivors include: one daughter, Christine Laue of Burlington; two sons, Marcus Bergren, Jr. of Georgetown, Texas; Michael Bergren of Mediapolis; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Helen Petersen of Letts; one brother George Mehaffy, Jr. of Mediapolis;

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four sons, Steven, Kenneth, Jeffry and Robert.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday July 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kossuth Cemetery, with Rev. Jeff Kodis officiating. There will be no visitation. A memorial has been established for Immanuel Lutheran Church. Hagele and Honts Funeral Home of Mediapolis is in charge of the arrangements.
