Morning Sun (IA) -- Mrs. Helen D. Baird, 73, rural Morning Sun, died Monday, May 27, in Burlington Memorial hospital following an extended illness.

She was born December 27, 1900, near Morning Sun, the daughter of Samuel and Hannah Swartz Delzell. She married Rodman Baird April 13, 1920, in Wapello. The couple farmed near Morning Sun. She was a member of Sharon Reformed Presbyterian church.

Surviving: The husband; sons Kenneth, rural Wapello, and Norman, Fairfield; daughters Mrs. Marjorie Stout, Mediapolis, and Mrs. Lillian Mott, Hamilton, Illinois; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sisters Mrs. Fannie Mehaffy, Morning Sun, Mrs. Leota Bales and Arminta Delzell, both of Ft. Meyers, Florida, and Mrs. Ruby Kaga, Indianapolis, Indiana; and brother Max D. Delzell, Dallas, Texas.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday, Sharon Reformed Presbyterian church; Sharon cemetery. Pierce funeral home, Morning Sun, is in charge of arrangements. A memorial has been established.
