Herman Richard Sommerfeld 87, of 3064 Sunnyside, died at his home Saturday morning. He was born Mar. 18, 1876, In Leinne, Germany, the son of William and Ottillie Netzel Som-merfeld, On Dec. 20, 1900, be married Mary Haug at Burlington. He was a foreman at the Leopold Co. where he was an employee for approximately 50 years, retiring in 1946. Surviving are his wife: two daughters, Mrs. Clara Orton, 1613 Pine, Mrs. Esther Dannenbring, 2201 S. 10th; two sons, Carl, 1517 Spray, Harvey, 2118 S. Third: three sisters, Mrs. Martha Ruschill, Mediapolis, Mrs. Lillie Hanna, 1711 S. Main. and Mrs. Edith Callaway. 1314 Pine; two brothers, Rudolph, 210 Swan, West Burlington, and Frank, 144 Gratton; 14 grandchildren, and 21 great grand-children. Two sisters died earlier. Services will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m, in the Elliott-Lunning Chapel, Rev, Earl Heisener officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
