Elsa Johnston, 80, Elm View Care Center, died there at 1 a.m. Monday, May 21.
She was born Dec. 4, 1898, in Wapello township, Louisa county, the daughter of E. S. and Ida May Newell Johnston.
She taught in Des Moines county rural schools and was later employed by International Harvester Co. in Milwaukee, Wis. She was a member of the OES.
Surviving: Five nieces and a nephew, including Mrs. Lewis George, Mrs. Wesley Matlick, Mrs. Jack Romkey, Mrs. Paul Nelson, and Wayne Johnston, all of Burlington.
A committal service will be conducted in Aspen Grove cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. The body is at Prugh's Chapel.
