E. Maxine Oetken, 86, of Danville, died Friday, September 5, 2014 at the Great River Hospice House, West Burlington. She was born January 1, 1928 at New London to Lewis and Nona Owens Stodgell. On September 23, 1952 at Burlington, she married Robert Oetken, who survives.

The family moved to West Burlington where she attended school through the 9th grade. They then moved to Burlington and she graduated for Burlington High School and Burlington Junior College. She worked at Schramms, and in the office of Central Oil and Grease and J.I. Case Company all in Burlington.

She belonged to the First Baptist Church in Danville where she served on many committees and in many positions. She loved her Lord. She enjoyed feeding the hummingbirds and flowers.

Besides her husband, she is survived by sons, Gary (Pam) Oetken of Danville, and Chuck (Sandee) Oetken of New London; daughters, Mary (Scott) Sylvester of Marion and Sharon (Randy) Schinstock of Mt. Pleasant; five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and six step-great- grandchildren; and one sister Donna Sorenson of Hastings, MN.; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Joanne Davey.

Funeral services for Mrs. Oetken will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 9, at Danville First Baptist Church. Pastor Jack Edmisson and Pastor Dean Graber will officiate with interment being held in Jaggar Cemetery, rural Danville. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at Elliott Chapel, New London with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials have been established for First Baptist Church Women of Hope, World Vision and Great River Hospice.
