Barbara Carol Stout, 82, of Burlington, died at 6:50 AM Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at the Blair House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Burlington.
Born November 18, 1931, in Jesup, IA, she was the daughter of John William and Luella Bergstrom Freyling.
Barbara worked at Sylvania for 14 years, and then worked at First National Bank for 27 years as Executive Secretary.
She was a member of First Congregational Church, as well as a member on the Mission Board. She was a member of the Women's Fellowship Circle, as well as the Women's Alliance. She enjoyed reading, using her computer, going out to lunch with her classmates and fellow co-workers at the bank. She loved cross-word puzzles and traveling. Barb loved spending time with her family, she never forgot anyone's special occasion.
Survivors include one son, William "Willy" Stout of Burlington; one brother, John William (Bridget) Freyling of San Antonio, TX; several nieces and nephews; and all of her "family" at Gators Restaurant.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by one son, John "Jay" Stout, one brother, Charles Freyling, two sisters, Pauline Freyling Lyons and Lynda Marie Freyling, one niece, Teresa Freyling Kirkpatrick, one nephew, Mark Freyling, and one brother-in-law, Merrill "Red" Lyons and his wife, Hannah Lyons.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Monday, September 1, 2014 at Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mrs. Stout will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Francisco officiating. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the First Congregational Church following the burial.
A memorial has been established for First Congregational Church.
