It is with great sadness that the family of Gertrude Edith (Johnson) Dunham shares of her passing on Monday, August 25, 2014 at the Blair House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Burlington, IA.

She was born April 5, 1927, in Rangeley, ME, she was the daughter of Percival "Percy" Eugene and Edith L. Brooks Johnson.

"Gert" settled in Wilton, Maine and retired from the Bass Shoe Shop. For many years she was a familiar and friendly faces as a server in several Farmington restaurants.

She was a graduate of Rangeley Lakes High School in Rangeley, Maine.

She was an avid reader, knitter, and enjoyed country music and yard sales.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Marie Myers of Burlington, IA; one son, Gregory Alan Dunham of Lewiston, ME; five grandchildren, Melissa, Tabitha, Clifford, Mindy and Heidi; five great-grandchildren, Jason, Cyrus, Grace, Courtney, and Gabriel; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother, Eugene, one brother, William "Bill," and one sister, Janet.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory.

There will be no visitation or services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Rangeley Lakes Region Library, P.O. Box 1150 Rangeley, Maine 04970-1150. In Gertrude's name to honor her and share her love of reading with children and adults alike.
