Mr. Daniel Paul Smothers, 56, of Burlington died at 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at his home.
Born December 12, 1957 in Burlington, he was the son of Eugene Wilson and Marion Louise (Bridgemen) Smothers. On May 2, 2014 he married Linda Inghram in Burlington.
Mr. Smothers attended Oak Street Schools, Burlington High School and SCC welding classes. He was a welder for over 30 years at Case New Holland.
Mr. Smothers was of the Methodist faith, and was a member of UAW Local #807. He enjoyed gardening and his dogs. He was an avid researcher and had a deep interest in books because he wanted to make available the truth of what should be known.
Survivors include his soul mate, Linda Inghram Smothers of Burlington; five children; seven grandchildren; three brothers; two sisters and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
There will be no visitation or service at this time.
A memorial has been established in Dan's memory.
At Dan's request, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to Lunning Chapel.
