Paul W. Pemberton, 91, of Sun City Center, Florida, died at South Bay Hospital, Sun City Center, Florida on Tuesday, May 27, 2014.

Born on January 16, 1923 in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Otis and Elizabeth Beer Pemberton. He married Virginia Helterbran on November 15, 1942 in Seattle, Washington.

Paul was a graduate of Burlington High School and Southeastern Community College. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1940 to 1945 during World War II. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service as Secretary to the Postmaster and retired in 1978 after 37 years of service. During that time he was a Railway Postal Clerk from 1945 to 1967. He enjoyed the river, hunting, fishing and training Labrador dogs. He was a 60 year member of the Patriot Masonic Lodge, 5o year member of the Davenport Consistory, KAABA Shrine, Moose Lodge, National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association and the V.F.W. He was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside ash committal services will be held at Aspen Grove Cemetery on Monday, June 16, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. Chaplain Dean Graber will officiate. A memorial has been established for Shriner's Hospitals for Children.
