Jenna Leathers

Jenna Lyn Leathers, 3, of Danville, died from neuroblastoma at 9:55 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, at her home.

Born Sept. 20, 1996, in Burlington, she was the daughter of James H. and Lisa Wilson Leathers.

Jenna was diagnosed with neuroblastoma March 6, 1999. Her treatments were at the University of Iowa and University of Michigan. She and her family made her illness and treatment as upbeat as possible. She dealt with the illness very well.

She loved riding her trike, singing songs, puppies, the color purple, squirt gun fights with her doctors, swimming, playing in the sandbox, Winnie the Pooh and the Powerpuff Girls.

Survivors include her parents; two sisters, Lindsay Ann and Bailey Marie, both at home; her grandparents, Richard and Ramona Wilson of Keithsburg, Ill., and James and Yvonne Leathers of Burlington; aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, one uncle and one cousin.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. only on Monday at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends.

The funeral for Jenna Leathers will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Danville Baptist Church, with Pastor Harry Hollingsworth officiating. Burial will be in Long Creek Cemetery in Danville.

A memorial has been established for the Jenna Lyn Leathers Memorial.
