Death of Samuel T. McDowell.

Samuel T. McDowell, the fifth child of Samuel and Perlina McDowell, was born in Decatur county, Iowa, Sept. 24, 1855, and departed this life Nov. 6, 1913, at his home near Woodland, Iowa, aged 58 years, 1 month and 12 days. He was married to Miss Maggie Massey, at Leon, Iowa, Feb. 21, 1894. To this union six children were born: Elsie Marie, Ralph E., Lola I., Hildah Ruth, Nellie L., and Samuel Dean, who with their mother are left to mourn the loss of a husband and father. The children were all present at the funeral, also his brothers and sisters: Mrs. Sarah Still, of Woodland; John McDowell, of Davis City; Mrs. Mary Beavers, of Woodland; Mrs. Belle Brown, Tuskeego; and Jas. McDowell, of Garden Grove, his brother George having passed away a few years ago.

Mr. McDowell was stricken a number of years ago with paralysis and although a great sufferer was very patient and the end came very peacefully Thursday morning.

Funeral services were held at the home Friday morning at 11 o'clock by Brother Goben. Interment at the Shields cemetery. (sic, Evergreen Cemetery, Lineville, Iowa) A large number were in attendance and mourn with the wife, children, brothers and sisters, for a kind husband, father, friend and neighbor has been taken from our midst.
