Joseph Seeley Naylor, second son of Joseph C and Julia Naylor, was born July 5,1850 in Racine, Wisc., and died March 26, 1934 in Decatur County.

The Naylor family moved from Wisconsin to Iowa in 1863 and in 1870 they moved to Decatur County, Ia. When Seeley moved the last load of household goods to Decatur County in 1870, he brought his bride, Caroline Cave. They were married Oct. 27, 1870 in Dallas County, Ia.

Joseph and Caroline had six children, the two oldest [Ralph and Virt] dying in infancy. For 20 years Joseph served as treasurer of his school district and for many years he was a trustee of Grand River Township. From 1900 to 1910 he was a postmaster of Elk Post Office. He also had a country store in connection with the office. Joseph had been a member of the Elk Chapel U B Church for 45 years.

He preceeded a brother, Frank, a sister, Elizabeth Roberts of Dawson, IA., and four children: Fair, Roy, Anna Akers of Decatur, and Bertha Bedell.

Burial was made at the Decatur Cemetery.
