Debbie Delana Bettin, age 55, the daughter of Clifford and Eloise Cox, was born October 25, 1961, in Leon, Iowa. She passed away at her farm home near Leon on Monday, October 2, 2017.

Debbie grew up in Decatur County, Iowa and attended Central Decatur Schools, graduating in 1980. She worked a summer at Yellowstone National Park before starting college at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri. Before she left for college, she met what would be the love of her life at the 4th of July rodeo in Leon. Upon her return, she started what would be a long, passionate career as a respiratory care practitioner at the Decatur County Hospital and up until her death, was still putting smiles on staff and patients’ faces.

On September 17, 1983, a very windy day, Debbie married the love of her life, Steven Boyd Bettin, on her parents’ rural Leon farm. They were blessed with three children, Tanner, Amareese, and Tessa.

Anyone who met Debbie, instantly felt her strong faith and love for Jesus. She was a very active member of the High Point United Methodist Church. She loved to sing and share her gifts through children’s programs and youth groups. Debbie treasured life on the farm with her family and all the animals surrounding her. She also greatly enjoyed being outside - camping, going for walks and sitting on the porch with her loving husband, soaking up God’s glory.

She was preceded in death by her dad, Clifford Cox, and her father-in-law, Richard Bettin.

Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Steve Bettin, of Leon; children, Tanner Bettin of Leon, Reese and Ben Robison of Alma, Nebraska, and Tessa and Brian Still of Kellerton, Iowa; grandson, Mack Robison; and granddaughter to-be; mom, Eloise (Stover) Cox of Leon; siblings, Cheryl and Dick Keul of Altoona, Iowa, Fred and Linda Cox of Leon, and Cathy and Jim Belmont of Urbandale, Iowa; mother-in-law, Evelyn Bettin of Leon; and sisters-in-law, Annette and Melvin Warren, Laurie and Pat Gober, and Lisa and Greg Porter, all of Leon; nieces and nephews, many other relatives, and friends.

A memorial service will be held at the Loving Chapel United Methodist Church in Leon, Iowa at 10 a.m. Friday, October 6, 2017, with Pastor Rick Hawkins officiating. A visitation gathering will be Thursday, October 5, at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa with Family receiving friends 5-8 p.m.

A memorial fund has been established by the Family.
