One of the oldest and most prominent old settlers of Clinton county is dead. Thos. Allar quietly breathed his last at his residence in Chancy on Sunday at 7:35 a.m. His death was caused by cerebral hemorrhage. In losing him this vicinity loses one of its oldest and most respected citizens. Born in Ononaga county, New York, Feb. 22, 1804, Mr. Allar came to Clinton county in 1852 and purchased 160 acres of land at Chancy where he has since resided. He has been a thrifty and hard working citizen and has acquired, during his long life, a competence which he leaves with his children to-gether with an unsullied reputation. His wife died in 1878 and he leaves two sons, Frank and Corwin, and one daughter, Mrs. L. M. Hall.
The funeral will take place Tuesday morning at ten o'clock from the residence in Chancy.
