Below is given the obituary of Mrs. Chris Discher, who formerly lived at Goose Lake and was well known in this city. Her funeral was held last Friday and her daughter, Mrs. William Holdorf, and son Paul were present at the funeral.

Mrs. Christian Discher, whose maiden name was Ingeburg Paulson, was born at Schliswig, Germany, July 19, 1835.

She was united in marriage with Christian Discher, Aug. 2, 1859. To this union were born six children, five of whom are living. Mrs. Kate Boothby, Mrs. Bertha Rogers, Washta, Iowa, Mrs. Mary Bierman, Cherokee, Ia.; Mrs. Maggie Holdorf, Mr. Paul Discher, Clinton, Ia.; and Mrs. Pauline Hagedorn, who died at Bloomfield, Neb. in 1903.

Mrs. Discher, with her children, came to the United States in 1882 and settled at Goose Lake, Clinton county, Iowa, where her husband had previously prepared a home. Here she lived, a true and faithful wife and home-maker endearing herself to all by her kind and loving words and deed. In 1905 she, with her husband, moved to Washta, Cherokee county, Iowa, to be near her daughters there, and where she continuously lived until her death. During these few later years of her life in her quiet and unassuming way she made new friends among the young as well as the old, who will ever cherish and revere her name. Her last illness which extended over several months, she bore with fortitude and with little complaint, and though there was a gradual decline in her health, she was only confined to her bed a few days, when the final summons came, and she passed without a struggle, peacefully beyond.

She was a member of the German Lutheran church having been confirmed in that faith at the age of 14 years, and to which she always adhered.

Besides husband and children she leaves one sister, Mrs. Christine Peterson, Cleveland, Ohio, and a number of grandchildren. She departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bertha Rogers, Washta, Iowa, May 31st, 1916, aged 80 years, 10 months, 12 days.
