Bernard H. Wulfekuhl, life-long, highly regarded resident of this community, died at his home in Guttenberg last Thursday evening at 10:05 o'clock, at the age of 74 years, five months and three days, following a long illness.

Mr. Wulfekuhl was born on a farm in Jefferson township, Clayton county, on June 28, 1858, where he grew to manhood. January 17, 1888, he was united in marriage with Miss Mary Elizabeth Kann at the Kann church in Jefferson township. After their marriage the couple settled on a farm in Clayton township, where they resided until the year 1906, when the family came to Guttenberg to reside and where deceased spent the remainder of his ambitious and true Christian life. Mr. Wulfekuhl was a public-spirited man and was a man of pleasing personality, which won him many friends during life. To know him was to like and respect him. He was ever ready with heart and hand to give his assistance toward things to build up the community in which he lived. He was a member of the board of directors of the Guttenberg Canning Co. Mr. Wulfekuhl was a faithful member of the Catholic church and the Sacred Heart society. His death is deeply mourned by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Gregor Uriell of Guttenberg, Mrs. Arnold B. Wagner of Breckenridge, Minn., and Mrs. Joseph Herting of Dubuque; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Richard Hayden and Mrs. W. H. Junk of Guttenberg and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. J. A. Dupont at St. Mary's Catholic church in Guttenberg on Monday morning, with interment in St. Mary's cemetery. The funeral was very well attended by relatives and friends from far and near.
