Funeral Services were held on Thursday afternoon, April 9, at 2:00 p.m. at the Gill chapel in Strawberry Point for Elmer Gordon, age 55, who died April 7, at 6:30 p.m. at Independence in the State hospital following a long illness. Born March 2, 1898 in Clayton county, Iowa, he was the son of Joseph and Eldora Hines Gordon. He was married to Catherine LeGrand at Dubuque, Iowa, and was later widowed. He had a grade school education and his hobby was the care of horses. He had been a resident of Dubuque for the past 25 years.

He is preceded in death by his father and one brother. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Eldora Gordon of Strawberry Point; two sisters, Mrs. Maude Dillon of Stockton, Calif., and Mrs. Clarence (Eva) Sturm of Elkader, Iowa; one brother, Ira Gordon of Strawberry Point; and one niece and five nephews.

Interment was at Ross cemetery, Cox Creek. The Rev. Wayne L. Carlson was the officiating clergyman.
