Died

After an illness of about six weeks Mrs. Katharine Seippel quietly passed away at three o’clock last Friday morning, Oct. 20, 1905, at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Roth.

Deceased, whose maiden name was Katharine Wiedenmann, was born June 17, 1830, in Eistadt, Baden, Germany. She came in 1852 and was married to Adam Seippel in New York City January 4, 1857, where they resided until Sept. 1863 when they came west and located at Glen Haven, Wis., where they lived until 1872, located then in Guttenberg which has served as the last earthly abide of each, Mr. Seippel having passed away two years ago last December.

To the deceased and her husband were born nine children, three sons and one daughter. Henry, dying in infancy, and one daughter, Louise, dying Dec. 25, 1887, aged thirty-five years. The surviving children are: Mrs. Amelia Kreisler, John Seippel, Mrs. Anna Kohler, Mrs. Elisa Geuder, Mrs. Henrietta Geuder, Wm. Seippel, and Mrs. Emma Roth, all of whom are residents of Guttenberg, except John Seippel, whose home is in New York City and who was unable to attend the funeral. Besides the children are thirty-two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Deceased was a good kind hearted lady, always willing to loan a helping hand to those who were in need and was held in highest respect by her neighbors and acquaintances, which was plainly evidenced by the lengthy funeral cortege following the remains to their last resting place. The loss of their mother is keenly felt by the children and the community in which she lived is deprived of a kind neighbor. Sympathy is extended the bereaved one in their sad affliction.

Funeral services were held at St. John’s Lutheran Church Monday afternoon at two o’clock conducted by Rev. J. Janzig, who delivered a very impressive sermon, paying many touching tributes to the life of the departed one.

Burial was made in the City Cemetery.

Note: Katharine Seippel's daughter Louise could have been twenty five when she died not thirty five as stated in the newspaper.
