Thank you for answering. As you can see I am quite new at this internet thing and between age and vision it is worse yet. I did have Martha Steensland of New Hampton do some research for me on the Grimes family in Jan 1985. I continue work on this family off and on since I haven't found the answer to several of my questions. I do have the information from the Church and Mount Carmel Cemetery in Lawler, Iowa. The records show that James Grimes died in 1881 which I could not prove any different but then on the 1880 Census his wife Ellen notes that she is a widow and the census was enumerated on the 11 June 1880, so I started over as he must have died earlier. Now I wonder about the twin boys who according to "oral tradition" they became ill and James took one to the Dr. and he died but by the time he got home the other infant had died also.. when?
My questions are:
1. When did James Grimes die? I have been trying to read some old New Hampton newspapers on line. I probably will not be able to find birth or death of the twins. Don't know which year so I read on.
2. When did Jane Grimes die? (Mrs. William Grimes) about 1874?
3. When did Thomas Grimes die? Can't find him after the 1860 census. Can't find a state census between 1860 and 1870 to see how long he might have lived, may have died when still single. "Oral tradition" says they, Grimes men, may have been born in Drogheda, Ireland.

I did send information on the Grimes family to relatives years ago so Ancestry may have most of what I had at one time.
I have the 1856 Iowa State census with the Grimes men also 1860, 1870, 1880, then I also have the ship passenger list for 12 June 1847 for Ellen Connery Grimes, (James' wife) Ellen was born in Draperstown, Ireland and emigrated from Belfast to Philadelphia, PA according to her Petition for Naturalization. I also have 1856 Iowa state census, 1860,1870, 1880, 1895 Iowa State census,1900, 1910 to Williams Co. ND. Ellen's son Joseph Grimes is my Grandfather.
You mentioned County microfilm on deaths Is there as way I can see that on line or do you have to go to the courthouse in person?
I have to stop I just get excited to think I might find one more thing. I mentioned research but I have since learned that the Chickasaw Genealogy group has been disbanded.
Thank you again for answering my email. I will try to work with any hint you give me.
Mary
