MRS. MARY J. PIERCE DIED YESTERDAY

MOTHER OF MRS. CHAS. I. CRAWFORD PASSED AWAY AT HER HOME IN THIS CITY AT FIVE O’CLOCK.
Mrs. Mary J. Pierce died at her home in New Hampton, Tuesday afternoon, October 10, 1922, after a few weeks’ illness which has kept her confined to her bed.
Mrs. Pierce was born at Muskego Center, Wis., on April 4, 1848, and was the daughter of Thomas and Katherine Taylor. She was married to John P. Pierce, who died several years ago. Prior to moving to this city, the family resided on a farm at Republic, this county. Mrs. Pierce suffered a stroke of paralysis about ten years ago but has been able to attend to her home duties although somewhat incapacitated by the illness she suffered at that time. Those who are left to mourn her loss are four children: Mrs. Ida Knapp, of Nashua, Mrs. Lulu Sorenson, of Lusk, Wyoming, Lerlowe J. Pierce, of Wilmar, Minn., and Mrs. Gertrude V. Crawford of New Hampton. One daughter, Ella Boyce, preceded her in death. She is also survived by the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. E. B. Priest, of Chicago, Sadie Taylor, of Waterloo, Lawrence Taylor of Denver, Colo., also ten grand children, two of who, Paul and Vivian Boyce, were tenderly taken care of by their kind hearted grand mother.
Mrs. Pierce was all that a woman could be to her kin and her loss will be greatly felt by those who were near and dear to her. Her many neighbors and friends will also miss her cheerful and kindly ways, and the community as a whole are saddened by the loss of this splendid woman.
At the time of going to press, funeral arrangements had not been completed.
