I have a problem and need help from Researchers in
Cedar County, Iowa, to help solve this problem.
---------------------------------------------------My Great Grandmother was a Ridenour, Her father was
Nicholas Alexander Ridenour. I have Nicholas A.
Ridenour father, Daniel Ridenour, Mother Elizabeth
Brewewr. both born in 1799 in Maryland. Their
children were, Nicholas Alexander , Cyrus Brewer,
Ann Elizabeth, Jacob Brewer, Margaret Rebecca and
Melinda Ridenour All the children were born in Maryland, Melinda was born in Ohio.
-------------------------------------------------
The family came to Iowa in 1843, but lived in Ohio
before coming to Iowa.
--------------------------------------------------Here is the problem. I have Cedar Biographies the History of Cedar County, 1878, Iowa Stae Census, U. S. Census, Birth dates, etc. Have the family
all listed. Ok. in order.
-------------------------------------------------
Name: Cyrus B. Ridenour
Parents; Daniel Ridenour, Elizabeth Brewer
Birth Place: Washington, Maryland.
Birth Date; 2 December 1821
Marriage Place: Cedar, Iowa.
Marriage Date; 6 May 1844. -- Cyrus & Cynthia.
------------------------------------------------
Cyrus B. Ridenour married Cynthia Hardman May 06, 1844 in Cedar County, Iowa. She was born in Ohio.

Their children are;

Daniel D. Ridenour. born: Iowa, in 1859. He is
buried in Winslow Cemetery in Poweshiek Co, IA.

This is all proven.
-------------------------------------------------
Now up jumps the devil.

Cyrus B. Ridenour. married Martha Ellen Gartell
( Gartrell ) on May 06, 1844 in Cedar, Iowa. ??

That would be Rochester, Cedar County, Iowa for that is where they lived.

Their children are:

John A, Ridenour. b. 1845 in Iowa.

Nicholas E. Ridenour. b. 1848 in Iowa.

Mary E. Ridenour. b. 1849 in Iowa.

Henry C. Ridenour. b. 1851 in Iowa.
-------------------------------------------------
That is all I have been able to find out on this
marriage so far, no other details.
-------------------------------------------------
I have all the rest of the family detailed, and
the other May 06, 1844 marriage. The marriage to
Cynthis Hardman their son Daniel D. was born 1859.
The other marriage the children were born
Between 1845 - 1851.
-------------------------------------------------
Now He may have married twice, but not on the same
date. His first wife, Cynthia died Apr 24, 1867
in Jefferson at 44 years of age, buried in the
Winslow Cemetery. Grave stone Records of
Poweshiek County, Iowa.
-------------------------------------------------
I have been unable to uncover any more information
on Cyrus and Martha marriage, or on their children, or when and where Cyrus died and is
buried.
------------------------------------------------
I live 1400 miles away from Iowa, so is hard to search the records in Cedar County, my Aunt lives in
Muscatine, and is 84 years old, so she can not do this for me. So I have my hat in my hand and ask
any researchers in Iowa for help. I will greatly appreciative of any help you can give me.
-------------------------------------------------
If you need any more info, on what I have, I will
gladly send it to you.

Thank you very much. God Bless.
