Elnora Louise Suchomel, 101, died October 24, 2020 at Crestview Nursing Home in West Branch, where she had been a resident for 5 years.

Elnora was born August 25, 1919 near Bennett, IA to Edo and Ella Butterbrodt Thein and was a lifelong resident of Tipton with the exception of 2 years in Chicago. She was a homemaker and a graduate of Tipton High School in 1937. Elnora attended Tipton Junior College. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was a member of St. Theresa’s Church Guild as well as a member of 19th Century Club, Athenaeum, Ikebana, several bridge clubs and Cozy Corner Club. Walking, reading, volunteer work, Blue Bird leader, and her family and friends kept Elnora busy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Laverne Suchomel, her parents, a sister and a brother, and her daughter-in-law, Mary Anne Suchomel.

Survivors include her daughter, Judee Nuechter of Wickenburg AZ, her son James Suchomel of Naples FL, three grandchildren; Tanya (Jeff) Hargrave-Klein, Kyra (Chip) Gilkison, Ian (Jennifer) Suchomel and six great grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established in her memory with the proceeds being directed to either the Tipton Ambulance or the Tipton Fire Department and mailed to: Jim Suchomel, 15038 Delasol Lane, Naples, FL 34110. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com
The body has been cremated and due to COVID-19 restrictions, the family will have a private ceremony at a later date.
