Oluf Anderson was born in Oster Vraa, Denmark, May 6, 1891. He was one of the sons of Anders and Margaret Anderson. His desire to come to the United States was fulfilled in 1914. He came directly to West Branch, Iowa, where his home has been since that time.

On March 29, 1916, he was united in marriage to Maren Olsen at West Branch. To this union two children came to bless the home, Margaret, aged 11, and Alice aged 5, both of whom survive.

His death occurred at the university hospital at Iowa City, Friday morning, Sept. 7th, as a result of injuries received Thursday afternoon when the tractor with which he was plowing overturned, pinning him underneath.

Fraternally he was a member of the Danish Brotherhood, No. 876, of West Branch.

The loss of this husband, father, neighbor and friend will be keenly felt in this community. His kindly disposition and willingness to help whenever there was need is particularly worthy of mention. His loss will be keenly felt by all who were privileged to know him.

His father preceded him in death one year ago. There are left to mourn his loss, his wife, Maren, two daughters, Margaret and Alice, his mother, three brothers and one sister in Denmark, and a host of friends and neighbors.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon, at the Danish Lutheran church, conducted by Rev. E. S. Rosenberg. Burial was made in the West Branch cemetery.

The community was shocked to hear of the tragic death of Oluf Anderson, a highly respected man of this community on Thursday night of last week. Mr. Anderson was using a tractor which was attached to a plow and in some manner the tractor was overturned and he was badly crushed. At first it was not thought that his injuries were serious, but later it developed to be such and he was taken immediately to the hospital at Iowa City, but in spite of medical aid and surgery, nothing could be done and he passed away that night. Mr. Anderson and his family had lived on the J. S. Fawcett farm for a number of years and there are many friends who will grieve to hear of his death. Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Margaret and Alice.
