8 November 1928 - West Branch Times

Anna M. Enlow, eldest daughter of Philip and Mary Mattison, was born in Cedar county, Iowa, Nov. 20, 1857.

She attended school at Springdale, after which she taught school till her marriage to Wm. Enlow in 1880. Their home was then made on a farm northwest of West Branch.

After eighteen years of married life her husband was called to the great beyond on Nov. 29, 1928. Following this Mrs. Enlow continued to make this farm her home and continued active management of it until thirteen years ago, when she made her home in West Branch, which was given up only recently, owing to failing health.

For the last six months she has been lovingly cared for in the home of her brother, H. P. Mattison, and family, who have spared no effort to comfort her in her last days.

Death came on Thursday afternoon, ending a long life which had been one of service and helpfulness.

For many years she had been a member of the Methodist church, taking an active part in the Sunday school work, and even having her class of boys come to her home when she was unable to attend church. She contributed largely of her means to the support of the church for which she had such great love. Surely an excellent life as finished its course, but the New Day will find her in her Master's family.

Mrs. Enlow was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter at West Branch, and of the White Shrine at Muscatine.

Funeral services were held at the home of H. P. Mattison, northeast of West Branch Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. H. D. Green, pastor of the Methodist church. Services at the grave were in charge of the Eastern Star. Burial was made in the West Branch cemetery.
