10 September 1914 - West Branch Times

Clarence Ellsworth Endlsey was born Sept. 3, 1889, and died at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Endsley, Sept. 3, 1913, that being his 25th birthday.

His entire life has been lived in West Branch, aside from the two year spent in Des Moines, where he was in the employ of E. C. Evans. It was while there that he contracted typhoid fever, which afterwards took a tubercular form, and after a brave struggle of four years, was the final cause of his death.

Clarence's life was one of singular loveliness. His devotion to his home and particularly to his mother, was unusual. His faithfulness in the discharge of duty, and his absolute integrity, were characteristic traits combined with a love for all things beautiful, and that make life worth while. With so much to make life desirable and beautiful, his death was even more wonderful than his life; for he was not only reconciled to go, but went with cheerfulness and gladness, lovingly urging his dear ones not to mourn for him, unduly and rejoicing in going to his Heavenly home.

Funeral services were held from the home, Sept. 5th, at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Mithell, pastor of the Methodist church. The floral tributes were numerous and beautiful and the perfect day made a fitting close for a beautiful life. The sincere sympathy of the community goes out to the bereft ones.
