16 July 1859 - The Tipton Advertiser

DIED, in Tipton, Cedar county, Iowa, of Pulmonary Consumption, on the evening of July 9th, 1859, S. W. STAFFORD, Clerk of the District Court.

Bro. STAFFORD was born in Adams county, Pa., on the 7th of June, 1821. He removed from that county to Logan county, Ohio, with his friends, when quite a young man, where he made himself many warm friends. From Logan county he came to this place, about four years ago, and has by his courteous manners and sterling integrity and his many manly qualities, endeared himself to very many warm personal friends. As a citizen he was very much respected in life as he is lamented in death; but to those who knew him in the Mystic Circle, he was all a Mason could desire. Fervent in attending to all his Masonic duties, upright in his conduct, and a strenuous advocate for carrying out the moral principles inculcated by the trusts of our order. May we all strive to imitate his virtues.
