30 January 1890 - West Branch Times

Mary Fairall, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fairall, quietly passed away from all earth scenes, on Friday, Jan. 17, 1890, after a sickness of ten weeks duration.

She was in her seventeenth year, and while not possessing the strongest constitution, she was in many senses a beautiful girl, possessing that beauty which nature gives as contradistinguished from that which art confers.

She was thoroughly in love with nature and found her greatest pleasure midst the numerous forms of floral plant life.

The disease from which she suffered was Typhoid Fever, from which she had almost recovered when Influenza set in and cut short her young life. Let us hope that having closed her eyes to the scenes of earth, they have been opened to scenes beatific and eternal.

The funeral services, short and simple, were held in the Presbyterian Church, Pastor G. H. Hemingway delivering the sermon. The large concourse of sorrowing and sympathizing friends more than filled the church. Her sun has gone down while it was yet day.
