Mrs. Dell Wells received a message Tuesday morning announcing the sudden death of her brother-in-law, Lewis Leech, which occurred Monday night at his home at Luverne, Minn., following a stroke.

Funeral services will be held at Luverne Friday. Mrs. Wells will go to be with her sister, and probably other relatives from this vicinity will attend the funeral.

Lewis Leech was the eldest son of John and Mariam Leech, pioneers in this community. He grew to manhood here and although he has lived elsewhere many years, he retained many warm friends of his boyhood. He was a nephew of Dr. L. J. Leech.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lucinda Leech, three children, Albert of Watertown, S.D., Harry Leech and Mrs. Vera Winkler of Luverne; two brothers, Alva Leech of Luverne, Adna of South Dakota; and four sisters, Mrs. Mattie Hawley of Marshalltown, Mrs. Elma Gray of Renville, Minn., Mrs. Lydia Hobson of Logan and Mrs. Mary Siemmons of near Downey.

Lewis E. Leech, son of John and Miriam Leech, was born November 2, 1867, in Johnson county, Iowa, near West Branch. Died at his home in Pipestone, Minn., April 24, 1934, aged 66 years, 6 months and 22 days.

He was united in marriage with Loucinda B. Hanna of West Liberty, Iowa, February 18, 1891.

To this union three children were born: Albert J. of Watertown, S.D.; Harry, and Vera Winkler of Luverne, Minn. There are nine grandsons. The oldest, LeRoy Leech has made his home with his grandparents for several years.

Lew was the oldest of eight children. His parents and one brother, Tom, preceded him in death. Two brothers, Alva of Luverne, Minn., and Adna of Donald, Wis., four sisters, Martha L. Hawley of Marshalltown, Iowa, Elma Gray of Renville, Minn., Lydia J. Hobson of Logan, Iowa, and Mary B. Siemmons of Iowa City, Iowa, survive.

He was reared to manhood in the Quaker faith, later joining the Evangelical church. He earnestly endeavored to live according to his convictions, reading his Bible daily and working in and out of the church for the uplifting of his fellowmen.

Funeral services were held at the Evangelical church in Pipestone at 2:00 p.m. Friday, the 27th; burial at Luverne cemetery.

The beautiful flowers and large concourse of neighbors and friends attributed to the esteem in which he was held.
