WELL KNOWN LADY DEAD AT HOME OF SON

Mrs. Barbara Guttenfelder, Native of Germany, Dies Here Last Night at Age of 86.

Mrs. Barbara Guttenfelder, 86, a resident of the city since 1882 and widow of the late Adam Guttenfelder, died at 9:15 last evening at the home of her son, C. W. Guttenfelder, 205 Oak Street. Death was the result of complications following a stroke of paralysis on Jan. 6, 1927. The deceased for the last three and a half years had made her home where she passed away.

Born in Germany.

Mrs. Guttenfelder was born in Bavaria, Germany, on Feb. 14,, 1842, being the daughter of Ott Solcher and wife. She was married in Germany on June 1, 1862 to Adam Guttenfelder and in 1882 they came to this city, where Mrs. Guttenfelder had lived ever since and where her husband, who was a carpet weaver, passed away May 28, 1921, at their old home on Locust street. She was a regular attendent at the local Evangelical church, Seventh and Walnut streets, until illness prevented.

Five Children Living.

Mr. and Mrs. Guttenfelder had nine children, four of whom are deceased. Two died in infancy and two, Mrs. G. F. Auerbach in the is city, and C. J. Guttenfelder at Cedar Rapids, in later years. Four sons and one daughter survive. The sons are C. W. and William of this city and J. C. and L. F. of Cedar Rapids. The daughter is Mrs. Eva Brix of Atlantic. There are twenty-two grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren.

Funeral Friday.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:30 p. m. at the Roland, Peacock & Baxter funeral home, the Rev. G. A. Hobard(?) officiating, and interment will be made in the Atlantic Cemetery.
