Hello:

I just saw your question regarding Vanetta's parents and have some information about them

John was born in Sweden in Feb 1858. He came here in 1869 and settled in Minnesota where his first son, Robert was born in 1891. He and Anna had 3 other surviving children. namely: Gordon 1894-1972 (my grandfather), Clarence 1892, Iowa and Vanetta. Anna Poorman was possibly born in Butler co., ia in 1868 parents: Fred and Mary. They show up on the 1880 census, but her birth year is given as 1871. I found another Anna, right year as ours in Butler co., but born in illinois...

My grandfather did say that the name was changed at some point but refused to say what it originally was and my grandmother (blanche hurlbutt) was unable to recall it.
