Beth Hagge, 81, of Winthrop, Iowa, died Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 20, 2021, at Prairie Hills Assisted Living in Independence.

Funeral service: 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, at United Methodist Church in Dayton, Iowa, with Pastor Kathleen Christie officiating. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, at Fawcett-Schmitz Funeral Home in Winthrop and one hour before the service Friday at the church. Interment: Dayton Cemetery, Dayton, Iowa.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing and masks are suggested at the visitation and service.

Elizabeth Kay Tuel was born March 22, 1940, in Lehigh, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Katherine (Richey) Higby. Beth was raised in Dayton and graduated from the Dayton High School with the Class of 1958. She was active in school activities, including basketball and softball. After graduating high school, she continued to be active in softball league, bowling league and enjoyed getting together with friends. Beth was united in marriage to Jay Dean Hagge on June 20, 1959, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dayton, Iowa. The couple was blessed with three sons, Monte, Michael and Marty. After the family moved to Winthrop in 1971, Beth worked as a teacher's aide at East Buchanan Community School. She loved to travel and on most summer days you could find her on the golf course.

Beth is survived by her three sons, Monte (Kelly) Hagge of Keosauqua, Michael (Rhinda) Hagge of Hiawatha and Marty (Kim) Hagge of Little Elm, Texas; seven grandchildren, Timothy Hagge, Jessica Hagge, Sydney Hagge, Steven (Nicole) Goedken, Scott Goedken, Lauren Dalecky and Taylor Dalecky; her great-granddaughter, Lucy Goedken; a sister-in-law, Pat Tuel; brother-in-law, Douglas Hagge; and many nieces and nephews.

Beth was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Timothy Tuel, Michael Tuel and Dale Tuel; sister, Billie (Tuel) Westphal; husband of 37 years, Jay Hagge, on Feb. 24, 1997; and more recently her loving partner, Paul Thompson.
