"Services Held For Irwin Morey

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Irwin A. Morey, 88, of Hazleton, who died Sunday at the People's hospital in Independence.

Irwin Allison Morey, son of Charles and Elizabeth Walker Morey, was born June 14, 1869, on a farm southest of Hazleton. On March 1, 1894, he was married to Ella King at the home of her parents in Hazleton. She died on Dec. 22, 1933, and on Oct. 3, 1936, he was married to Myrtle Fish who died on Sept. 18, 1948.

Mr. Morey spent most of his life in Buchanan county. In 1919 he retired from farming and he and his family moved to Cedar Rapids where they lived until 1930. He had been a life-long member of the Methodist church and for many years served as a trustee of the church.

He is survived by two sons, Clarence and Raymond, both of Cedar Rapids; a step son, Norman Fish of Tulsa, Okla.; a step daugter, Mrs. Ronald Pratt of Renton, Wash.; four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist church in Hazleton, Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 10, with the Rev. Alfred Christensen officiating. Burial was in the Hazleton cemetery.

Pallbearers were his four grandsons, Duane Morey of Hazleton, David Appleman of Clermont, Gale Morey of Cedar Rapids, Ramon Cook of Marion, and Carl Nourse of Fairbank and Leslie Weston of Stanley."
